Billy Kay is well known in Scottish culture for his radio and TV documentaries for the BBC as well as his books including Scots The Mither Tongue, Odyssey, Knee Deep in Claret and The Scottish World. We're delighted to welcome him to Perth to talk about his latest book, Born in Kyle – A Love Letter tae an Ayrshire Childhood which takes him back to his roots.
Billy will talk about the culture, history, folklore, language and literature of his home in the Irvine Valley and read passages in vivid Scots that evoke a sense of belonging…..and a sense of humour! The book is a celebration of small-town life in Scotland during the 1950s and ‘60s.
This event is part of our fantastic Autumn Authors series, which runs from September to November.
