Perthshire Society of Natural Science - Curious Minds Season Ticket

Curious Minds is back in the Soutar Theatre for its 9th season of Friday evening lectures around the general theme of 'Contemporary Science in Scotland'.

Every year they ask some of the top academics and researchers in Scotland to come along to Perth to discuss their work - in a way that normal mortals can understand. PSNS ask them to avoid “dumbing it down” but also to avoid excessive jargon or impenetrable equations. It has been enormously successful. They don’t shy away from tacking really difficult subjects – but in a way that makes them accessible to everybody. You can check out some of their previous talks here.

This year, they continue the usual eclectic mix. You can learn about the mystery of the brain for a single cell into a powerful computing machine – in only a few months. You can hear about some of the latest advances in Medical science. Or you can see how a research team in Glasgow are using “crowdsourcing” to map the use of language in contemporary Scotland. And, if you have ever wondered what actually happens to the contents of your grey-lidded recycling bin – you get a chance to hear about the reality of plastics recycling from 3 speakers in Research, Industry and Strategic planning.

All talks will be held in the Soutar Theatre, AK Bell Library, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets for each of the live talks are £3.50 for PSNS members and £7 for non members. PSNS Members can purchase a season ticket for all 10 talks at a reduced price. Please note this offer is only available before the first talk on Fri 4 Oct.
