Part of the Dunkeld Living History Weekend.
Join us for this active, theatre-based workshop to explore the connection between Macbeth and Birnam.
In Shakespeare’s play, a once-noble warrior becomes a tyrannous king, brought down (in part!) by the advance of Birnam Wood. We will explore some of the choices Shakespeare makes in adapting his Macbeth from the historical accounts available to him, with particular reference to the role Birnam plays in his downfall. No prior knowledge is needed, just curiosity and playfulness, to engage with a collaborative, creative approach!
This workshop will be led by actor Joe Arkley, who has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company and has appeared in The Capture and Wreck; and Tracy Irish, a teacher, theatre practitioner and scholar with a specialism in Shakespeare. Tracy and Joe both also work with the Royal Shakespeare Company as Associate Learning Practitioners
