This is a Perth Festival of the Arts event.
Performed by one of Scotland’s leading artists and the nation’s voice of classical music for BBC Radio Scotland, Jamie MacDougall, Lauder is a gem of a show about a legendary Scottish entertainer.
Known for songs including I Love a Lassie, Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ and The End of the Road, Harry Lauder had become the highest-paid performer in the world by 1911 and an international star of music hall, vaudeville and recordings.
Lauder looks beyond the image to reveal a man of mischief and ingenuity, an entrepreneur and above all, a philanthropist who raised an epic amount of money for the wounded soldiers of the First World War.
This is the incredible story of one of the world’s first superstars, an original thinker, a man of vision and humour whose real life inspires, more than the larger than life characters he created.
