This year's Soutar Birthday Lecture will be given by one of Scotland's best known broadcasters, Frieda Morrison.
Just as William Soutar did, Frieda has championed the Scot's language, not just in its written format but by continuing to broadcast spoken Scots today. Her focus has developed over the years with the creation of ‘Scots Radio’ in 2013 with support from the Scottish Government. Scots Radio has been nominated multiple times for an Excellence award in the Celtic Media Festival, competing with both the BBC and RTE.
Frieda is Chair of the Doric Board which supports around 79 projects promoting and celebrating culture and language in the North East of Scotland and she has won multiple awards for her services to Scots language. We are delighted to have her join us to discuss her passion for the language and why it's important to continue to raise its profile advocate its use.
