Best known as a pioneering early Scottish photographer, David Octavius Hill was also a talented and productive artist, administrator, and general champion of Scottish art and artists. The talk will cover these aspects of the rich life of this son of Perth. Robin H.
Rodger graduated in the History of Art from St.Andrews University as the most outstanding student (Saunders Prizeman). Following further study at Manchester University he settled in Perth as Keeper of Fine & Applied Art at the Perth Museum & Art Gallery. He was closely involved in the creation of the Fergusson Gallery. He created many exhibitions in Perth and led the successful bid to secure Recognised Status for the entire Museum & Art Gallery collections. He is currently Documentation Officer at the Royal Scottish Academy of Art & Architecture, and a past president of the Perthshire Art Association.
